Islip Middle School implements quarantine protocols after student tests positive for COVID-19

Islip Middle School has put quarantine protocols into place after a student tested positive for
COVID-19.
An announcement posted to the district website Monday stated that the middle schooler last attended school last Thursday and Friday.

Due to the number of students and staff potentially exposed, district officials implemented the following changes:

The district has separated grades into teams and cohorts. The purple cohort of the 7th grade silver team need to quarantine, and the gold cohort of the silver team will remain on remote instruction.

Seventh and 8th graders in band who attended band class Friday, November 20 need to quarantine. All 6th, 7th and 8th grade band and chorus rehearsals are canceled until Dec. 4.

All students who were on Bus H on Thursday, Nov. 19 at 8 a.m. or 2:30 p.m. need to
quarantine. Additionally, all after school activities will be canceled for next week.
The protocols will remain in place until Friday, Dec. 4.

“We understand that these are substantial changes to our program, but we are doing everything we can to remain open,” the statement read.
