Seatuck hosts online Eco-Carnival for Earth Day

Posted

Seatuck Environmental Association hosted its Eco-Carnival on Facebook Live on Saturday. Presented in partnership with both Long Island counties and the Town of Islip, the day featured live hands-on nature explorations and games, live music, an animal show and fun, outdoor activities for children of all ages.

“It was exciting to hold our first stay-at-home, social-distanc- ing-friendly celebration of Earth Day and the natural world,” said Enrico Nardone, Seatuck’s executive director. “And, unlike carnivals in the past, this year’s activities and videos will remain on our Facebook page for even more friends and families to enjoy.”

Although this year’s Eco-Carnival was livestreamed due to social distancing mandates in order to limit the spread of COVID-19, the livestreamed event experienced considerable attendance.

Live programs, led by renowned Long Island naturalists and leading entertainers, were featured hourly from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Among the presentations were Neighborhood Birds, Pond Exploration, Insect Adventures and Bird Bingo, among others.

The Eco-Carnival was sponsored by Delesia Construction. Supporting sponsors included Artisan Mortgage, National Waste Services, Northwell Health, Whole Foods Market, Budget Dumpster, Covanta Energy, Harvest Power, Leaf Filter, Long Island Power Solutions, Ross F. Mongiardo, CFP, NY Water Environment Association and PSEG.
