Smith Point County Park's summer season extended

Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone joined with legislators, earlier today, to announce an extended summer season at Smith Point County Park.

While Suffolk County beaches are not typically staffed with lifeguards post Labor Day, this year lifeguards will stay on the stands for an additional two weekends to provide additional opportunities for residents and visitors to safely enjoy the park and its beautiful beaches. 

Additionally, the county has paid tribute to lifeguard Tim Delaney for his exceptional 50 years of service. In recognition of his dedication, the staircase that leads to the beach at Smith Point County Park was officially named "Tim Delaney Way."
