The Night of Champions at Islip Middle School on Tuesday night featured the distribution of various awards to students within the Islip School District, including academic excellence as well as music and athletics.
“Nights like this are always one of the crown jewels as an administrator and an educator that we have because we are able to come here and celebrate the hard work and commitment in the community that students have,” said high school principal Jon LaRochester.
For academics, assistant principal Lisa Ward invited each of 92 Islip High School students who earned recognition in Advanced Placement courses. Ward, who is also the school’s AP coordinator, described the various levels of achievement that students at Islip High School have achieved this year.

Winners of the AP Scholar with Distinction (20), AP Scholar with Honor (6), AP Scholar (33) were among the high school’s student body as well. AP Capstone certificates and diplomas were also awarded.
