Army-Navy game fundraiser at the Portly

There will be a community viewing of the Army-Navy football game at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 14 at the Portly Villager! One hundred percent of all proceeds benefit the Lt. Michael Murphy Navy SEAL Museum in West Sayville. Event hosts, the Sayville Michael Murphy Team, have two goals: to promote local devotion to the legacy of Medal of Honor recipient Michael Patrick Murphy, and to weave the Museum into the community’s cultural tapestry. The Sayville Team also wants the community to remember all of our veterans. To achieve this goal, they are proud to share that they have brought an archive of local veterans’ records online. This database was lovingly and painstakingly created by John and CarolAnn St. Lawrence to ensure that all veterans could be honored, as they should. The St. Lawrences received Congressional commendation by former U.S. congressman Peter King, thanks to the assistance of Sayville’s own U.S. congressman Andrew Garbarino. Please search for the records of local veterans using the website address provided. Special thanks for the creation of the website goes to Sayville HS alumnus and Sayville Murphy Team member, Tim Leigh-Manuel. The hope is that the whole community will participate in this spirited event.  That is why entry remains $20.
