Attend summer camp at LI Game Farm

Wildlife sustainability foundation to host special sessions

Posted

The Foundation for Wildlife and Sustainability recently announced summer camp programs for children aged 4 to 13 at the Long Island Game Farm in Manorville.
Camp Zoom will run from July 1 through Aug. 8 as a specialized summer camp allowing campers to be immersed in nature with outdoor exploration, games, crafts, and other hands-on activities.

The camp will be led by director Shannon Swanson, who said the camp will offer campers a sense of wonder while also instilling respect for nature and wildlife.

“Camp Zoo is an adventure,” said Swanson. “I grew up going to the Long Island Game Farm. I’ve come full circle now as the education coordinator, and I’m excited to see children enjoy some of the experiences I did when I was a kid.”

Sessions include Zoolympics, stepping into the role of a zookeeper, exploring the natural world, discovering animals through picture books and interactive experiences. Campers will also have the opportunity to get up close and personal with the animals, including Madagascar hissing cockroaches, wallabies, donkeys, goats, and more.

“I love that we are getting kids back to nature! Teaching them about animals and the environment, so that they respect the earth and can give back to it,” LI Game Farm president Melinda Novak said of the camp.

Camp session dates, times, and prices vary. Space is limited and advance registration is required. Visit wildlifesustainability.org/camp-zoo for more information.
