Blankets donated to veterans

For the second year, the Center Moriches VFW Post 414 has hosted a blanket donation.

This year, the post donated to the Long Island Veteran Home in Stony Brook and the Oasis Rehab Facility in Center Moriches. Donations were made by the following agencies, totaling over $2,700: Center Moriches VFW Victory Post 414, Helping Makes U Happy, East Moriches Ambulance Company, 106th Top III Council, and 106th First Sergeant’s Council.

The post held nine classes, each three hours long with a total of 79 volunteers, enabling them to distribute 15 blankets to the veterans currently residing at Oasis Rehabilitation Center in Center Moriches on Veterans Day, Nov. 11. The remaining blankets (estimated to be 90) will be delivered to veterans at the home in Stony Brook.

Last year, they donated a total of 10 blankets to the Oasis Rehab facility and 72 blankets to the Long Island Veteran Home.
