On Sunday, April 27, from 1 to 4 p.m. (with a rain date of May 4), the Bayport-Blue Point Public Library will be hosting the “Bayminster Dog Parade & Artisan Fair that will include a dog parade at 3 p.m., vendors, the beloved Roxy’s Ice Cream Truck, empanadas, and oysters again, whose shucker will be bringing more product after selling out in about an hour last year.
A series of raffle baskets will be on display as well as games and activities for children of all ages.
Women Sharing Art, based in Bayport, will have two sections featuring multiple artists exhibiting fine art, photography, pet portraits in mosaics and other media and pet portrait artists who work on commission basis.
Hosted by the Friends of the Library, the fundraiser will go to support endeavors the association carries out during the year for children and students of all ages.
Some of the Friends’ greatest achievements include: the Library of Things, furnishings for the new tween center, the summer concert series, the author book series, the sublimation printer in the fulcrum, holiday floral arrangements, in addition to supplemental library and departmental funding requests, as needed.
This is the second year for the dog event that had over a hundred four-legged friends in attendance last year.
“It’s amazing what you think of when you’re in a room together,” said event coordinator, Maureen Russo.
For dog lovers, this will include pet artisans who can be commissioned for portraits of your furry-family members, pet groomers, and pet treats.
At time of print there were 26 vendors signed on.
