On June 8, the West Sayville Fire Department Flying Dutchmen drill team emerged as victors in the 26th annual North Bellmore Invitational Motorized Drill, hosted by the North Bellmore Fire Department at the Four Towns Training Facility in Merrick.
The Flying Dutchmen edged out their 15 competitors to earn top honors in the event with 30 points. The North Lindenhurst Piston Knockers placed second overall with 21 points while the North Bellmore Rinky Dinks captured third place with 16 points. The Hagerman Gamblers placed fourth with 15 points and fifth was the South Hempstead Rascals with 12 points.
The victory marks the second time West Sayville has won the North Bellmore Invitational Drill and the 193rd victory in the team’s history.
The Flying Dutchmen compiled their points by placing third in Three Man Ladder (6.90 seconds), first in Motor Hook and Ladder Class C (8.90 seconds), first in Motor Hose Class C (13.06 seconds), third in Motor Hose Class B (8.07 seconds), second in Efficiency (9.13 seconds), first in Motor Pump (6.56 seconds), and first in Buckets (22.52 seconds).
