Free egg hunt, petting zoo at Corey Beach Easter weekend

The Blue Point Elementary School PTA and Dave Chiarella of Bodhi’s Beach Shack will be teaming up for the second Hoppy Easter Celebration on Saturday, April 19 from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Corey Beach in Blue Point.

Entry, participation in the egg hunt, and petty zoo are all free for the event.

Photos with the Easter Bunny, sponsored by the PTA will be $20 for two 4 x 6 photos and a digital copy.

The Hoppy celebration wasn’t held last year with Easter falling so early in the year on March 31.

The event started as the successor of the BBP Chamber’s egg hunt and Chiarella expanded it to a spring fest.

“We wanted to take full advantage of the grounds down there - stalls and attractions on the green, meet and greet with the bunny in the paved plaza, party with a DJ at Bodhis, and egg hunt on the beach,” said BPE PTA president, Nora Garvey.

Garvey also said that the success of the many of the PTA’s events was due to Jeremy Radino’s efforts as head of logistics, technology, and “fun.”

The egg hunt will have “egg referees” and egg limits for each age group.

“BPE has been working hard to hold community events at venues off school property to encourage ALL community members to attend - not just families with children in the school building; we are all stakeholders and our little school can act like a nerve center for our little town...It’s important to us that ALL Blue Pointers feel seen, like they belong, and we are all one big family,” said Garvey.
