Football winning streak enters third year on homecoming

The Bayport-Blue Point Phantoms homecoming was held on Saturday, Sept. 21, where the football team faced off against the Center Moriches Red Devils. Continuing their immaculate winning streak going back to the 2022 season, the Phantoms and the community celebrated their 25th-consecutive win with a final score of 34-7.

Head coach Michael Zafonte said the season, which now has two wins, was “off to a great start,” and led by the senior players on the team.

“As always, we continue to focus on getting better each day and win the week.  We have a lot of great coaches and athletes that thrive in their roles at making the overall team better,” said Zafonte. “Our division has a lot of well-coached, athletic, and tough football teams, so each week will bring its own set of challenges. The Phantoms are looking forward to playing their best possible football each week—unselfish football, where everyone has a job to do.”
