Oakdale Civic president, Dave Chan, hosted his third annual, albeit informal, Turkey Trot at his home in the Idle Hour community.
Chan began the tradition as a “friendly, neighborhood get-together” to include a run/walk throughout the Idle Hour area with adult beverages, bagels, and snacks at the conclusion of the mini-5K.
Nearly two-dozen people come each year. Held this past Friday, Nov. 24, the Turkey Trot included a toy donation.
The “Run Your Turkey Off” event had over 30 participants, who donated over 50 toys to the Sayville Running Company for the John Theissen Children’s Foundation.
