On Jan. 15, the Town of Islip, along with the Long Island MacArthur Airport, announced a new nonstop flight via JetBlue. For those Long Islanders who love to visit Boston, Mass., as of April 30, flights will become available to Boston Logan International Airport.
It is the first time such a flight is available, and to celebrate, JetBlue will be offering $49 one-way tickets to Boston. The deal can only be purchased on JetBlue’s official website at www.JetBlue.com.
“This new JetBlue destination offers Long Islanders an easy way to get to Boston right from their hometown airport. It’s exciting to see our newest carrier already adding a route from ISP. The town board and I are thrilled to welcome this additional air service,” Town of Islip supervisor Angie Carpenter said. “These flights will provide welcome options for business travelers, local Long Islanders looking to explore Boston’s Freedom Trail, visit Boston’s acclaimed colleges and universities, along with an opportunity for our community to showcase Long Island as a dynamic tourism destination.”
Boston is well known for their history, sports, food and culture. Lobster rolls and clam chowder are some of the city’s popular meals.
Additionally, there are connecting flights available from Boston to airports on the West Coast, such as Los Angeles (LAX) and San Francisco (SFO) and Las Vegas (LAS).
It is a significant move on behalf of MacArthur Airport. In 2023, the airport provided services to 1.2 million passengers.
“JetBlue’s new service to Boston is a significant development for Long Island MacArthur Airport and for Suffolk County residents,” Suffolk County executive Ed Romaine said. “This addition highlights the growth of Long Island’s economy as we will now provide our residents with a convenient option to a new market that serves a major business hub and popular tourist destination in less than one hour.”
