“The Round Up,” by Lucia Alberti, acrylic $800 A landscape worthy of the Old Testament, Lucia Alberti’s painting is bucolic at face value, but belies some unearthly wonder. Alberti is the retired owner of a display company that designed and provided the major holiday décor programs to shopping centers across the United States. Focusing mainly on realistic landscape created in her imagination, Alberti has shown her work in galleries throughout Long Island. Alberti serves as group leader for the Smithtown artists.

“The Real Deal,” by Carol Ceraso, oil, NFS Evocative of a Goya scene, albeit perhaps just a friendly game, Carol Ceraso captures a moment caught with drama. A successful realtor and an artist for life, Ceraso paints in a wide range of media, including oil, pastels, pen and ink, charcoal, pencil, and recently, acrylics. Ceraso can be commissioned for work and has done portraits of children and pets. She has shown in galleries throughout Long Island, particularly the Hamptons.

“Baby Cedar Walking,” by Lori Scarlatos, oil, $480 The darkness surrounding the subject sets off a feeling of woeful hope in the tiny cedar who is imagining a kinder world. With a BFA in painting from the Pratt Institute, Scarlatos is a professor at Stony Brook, where she teaches classes in design and color. Her artwork has been shown on Long Island as well as Las Laguna Gallery in California and the Lorillard Wolfe Art Club in New York City.
