As of this season, the Davis Park Harbor store is under new ownership with the Winn family.
The Winns are Patchogue Village residents, who have been part of the Davis Park community for over 20 years. They plan to “breathe new life” to the Fire Island staple.
Among the changes, including a facelift, there will be new food options and the debut of Davis Park’s first-ever coffee spot.
The Winn children originally started their Davis Park business adventures, according to co-owner Nate Winn, with lemonade stands and handmade shell crafts on the boardwalk, and have now evolved into owning a full-fledged family operation.
Among the family owners are father and son Vincent and Nate Winn and Erin and Lizzy Winn who will be running the day-to-day operations.
“Together, we are shaping the Harbor Store into a one-stop destination for food, essentials, and summer joy,” said Nate. “Whether you’re a day-tripper, longtime boater, or summer local, the Harbor Store is ready to serve as your go-to stop in Davis Park. With fresh food, warm coffee, cold drinks, and a welcoming team, the Winn family invites the community to enjoy a new wave of summer on Fire Island!”
“I’m especially proud of the commitment, hard work, and enthusiasm all the children have displayed,” said proud mother and employee Julie Winn. “It’s wonderful having all three back home on Long Island.”
WHAT’S ON SITE?
All located a short trip down the boardwalk before the beach are the Davis Park Harbor Store (deli and grocery); Summer Beans Coffee Shop; The Grill; ice cream window; liquor store; and a chair and paddleboard rental space.
“Store looking great!” said Jayne Robinson, president of the Davis Park Association, noting the family has already catered the association’s spring meeting with bagels and coffee cake. “They’ve put in an espresso bar that’s a big hit.”
MORE THAN JUST A MARKET
Open seven days a week, the Harbor Store will now offer breakfast, lunch, and dinner with a newly reinvented breakfast menu. Morning offerings will include acai bowls, French toast, and hearty breakfast burritos.
There will also now be convenient lunch and dinner grab-and-go options. Julia said they promise healthier options like salads and grilled items as well as fresh produce and fruits.
The liquor store will offer ready-to-drink canned cocktails as well as bottles of wine.
Once the liquor store opens, according to Julia, they plan to host weekend tastings showcasing different venues, including The Better Man Distilling Company in Patchogue.
Executive chef Vincent Winn brings more than 40 years of culinary experience as a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America and the previous owner of the Carmen’s River Inn.
Vincent also earned the title of “Chef of the Year” at the Bartenders Ball and is a former professor at Suffolk Community College, where he spent over two decades mentoring the next generation of chefs, all while running the kitchen at the Casino Café in Davis Park.
His children, all Patchogue-Medford graduates, Nathaniel, Lizzy, and Erin, each also bring over a decade of experience from their years working at The Casino, another Davis Park favorite.
SUMMER BEANS
But the newest addition is Summer Beans, Davis Park’s first-ever coffee shop, with the “Makes Me Feel Fine,” tagline. The coffee shop promises to offer locally roasted coffee and island-inspired pick-me-ups to kickstart beachgoers’ and boaters’ days.
““I’m excited to bring the craft of coffee making to Davis Park for the first time,” Erin said. “There’s something special about sharing quality coffee with a great community, and serving locally roasted beans makes it even more meaningful. It’s a fresh addition to the island—and one I hope becomes part of people’s summer rituals.”
