On Sunday, April 28, from 1 to 4 p.m., the Bayport-Blue Point Public Library will be hosting the “Bayminster” dog event that will include a dog parade at 3 p.m., vendors, a barbecue food truck, oysters, and pizza.
Hosted by the Friends of the Library, the fundraiser will go to support endeavors the association carries out during the year for children and students of all ages.
These include the purchase of supplies like crayons and other crafting items that are not typically included in the library’s budget, meet-the-author-events, and for the summer 2024 season, six outdoor concerts that are free to the community.
This is the first year for the dog event and one conjured up during a meeting of Friends’ board members.
“It’s amazing what you think of when you’re in a room together,” said board member Kathleen Young.
For dog lovers, this will include pet artisans who can be commissioned for portraits of your furry-family members, pet groomers, and pet treats.
There will be seven ribbons handed out to pet participants, including ones for:
All attendees will vote for the “Fan Favorite.”
A psychic and hair braider are also on the list of vendors to round out the afternoon for families.
